Byron joined JDG in 2019 as an architectural designer and quickly established his worth to the firm and our clients. He became an Associate in 2023 and assumed responsibility for business development earlier this year.
His new role is simple — “to keep us very busy.” In practice, that means identifying new opportunities that align with JDG’s values and our commitment to restorative design.
“JDG excels in a wide range of project types,” Byron said. “We’re expanding our work in high-rise, community, and workplace developments. And we continue to deliver exceptional design in high-end residential, affordable housing, and inclusive multifamily projects, serving a broad spectrum of residents.”
In addition to residential and commercial work, JDG has a growing portfolio of municipal and civic projects, as well as collaborations with financial institutions, including local credit unions. “These clients are essential community anchors,” Byron noted. “We’re proud to support their missions, with design that’s functional and meaningful for the people they serve.”
That commitment to community impact is already yielding strong partnerships. JDG is currently engaged with the Spartanburg Housing Authority, The Greenville Housing Authority, and Nehemiah Corporation, an organization focused on affordable and low-income housing. “These collaborations help improve housing affordability across the Upstate — and they reflect our values as a firm,” Byron added.
In addition to his business development responsibilities, Byron maintains a full workload as an architectural designer and serves as a part-time lecturer at Clemson. He participates in events with the South Carolina chapter of the National Organization of Minority Architects (NOMA) when his schedule allows, including Clemson’s Project Pipeline Summer Camp. The camp introduces students of color to the fundamentals of architecture and design and encourages diversity in the profession.
